Oakhurst was formerly known as Fresno Flats in the 1850's and was renamed to Oakhurst in 1912 . It is located on the Fresno River at an elevation of 2274 feet in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Oakhurst is only 12 miles south of the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park. and is located at the junction of Hwy 41 and Hwy 49. The breathtaking scenary of the rolling Sierra Foothills is peppered with oak and pine trees.

Shop for antiques or browse the art galleries boutiques, book stores, gift shops or dine in a variety of restaurants in this picturesque historic town. Fresno Flats Historical Park has numerous historical buildings that have been preserved and filled with exhibits of Oakhurst's history. The Little Church on the Hill is located in the center of Oakhurst at Oakhill Cemetery, This church is the only remaining wooden structure of its era in the entire region.
